Weekend Wrap-up - Cedar Lake Speedway and Monett Motor Speedway

It’s been an eventful couple of weeks in the life of the BAR31 Team members. Kye came back to the 31AUS full time, we welcomed Glynn to the team, and Paul, Neil and Roger packed up and headed west to the Bonneville Salt Flats.

Kye and Glynn worked steadily to get the BAR31 entry ready for the USA Nationals, a World of Outlaws crown jewel event hosted by Cedar Lake Speedway. The boys rolled into town late Wednesday evening and were all set to race on Thursday, but Mother Nature had another plan in mind. The officials decided that a double header would be run on Friday afternoon, and then the regular Friday show that night.

There were 48 late models in attendance. Kye qualified 21st in group B, which started him 7th in the last heat race. The dry slick track didn’t allow for much passing, and Kye finished his heat in 7th place. He started the B-Main in 12 position and was able to finish 6th, however only 2 cars transferred into the Thursday portion of the feature.

Friday evening, the track was much different, and Kye qualified 8th in his group. He was able to transfer into the feature race from his heat. He ended up finishing 25th in a caution-plagued feature race.

Kye also participated in the Fans Fund race, where the highest finisher not already locked into the USA Nationals 100 lap race gets a provisional. Kye started 8th and finished 9th.

The Saturday show's start time was moved up because of impending weather. Because of this, the track was again dry and slick. Lineups were set based on the best points of the previous two shows. Kye started 5th in the first Last Chance Showdown and finished 6th. Only the top 3 transferred. But his 6th place finish got him into the Last Chance Qualifier; the top two transferred, and he finished 4th.

After missing the USA Nationals by 2 positions, Kye and Glynn were disappointed, and felt they still needed to go someplace and find some speed. They discovered that Monett Motor Speedway in Missouri was racing on Sunday night. They made the long trek to the track, where they found the speed, they were looking for. Kye won his heat race by 8 seconds, and then went on to win his first feature race here in the United States.

Meanwhile, in Utah, Paul, Neil and Roger are still working on the cars to take a crack at the infamous Salt Flats. Be sure to watch our Facebook page (BAR31 Team) for updates to see how the boys are doing.

Kye and Glynn are planning to join back up with the MARS Series this weekend (streaming on FLO Racing). Click on the Tour tab to see where you can catch up with the BAR31 Team.
