Summer Nationals 2024 - Week 2 Wrap-Up

The second week in the Steve Lampley owned Midwest Excavating #33 is in the books for Randy Korte, Kye Blight and the BAR31 Team. The series was able to run every event scheduled, and the heat (most days above 90 degrees) made the Hell Tour live up to its name.

This week’s tour took the team to Davenport Speedway, Adams County (IL) Speedway, Spoon River Speedway, the Brownstown Bullring, Federated Auto Parts I-55 Speedway and Lincoln Speedway.

The week started with a blown tire on the hauler, and the team scrambled to make it to Davenport in time to race. They made it, and people knew they were there. Kye qualified second in his group, won his heat race, and lead 22 of 30 laps before red-hot Tyler Erb passed him for the win. Kye finished in second position.

The rest of the week had its ups – another fast time set, another heat race win – and downs - electrical issues, trying some new things on the car that didn’t pan out, and having to pull out the backup car. It’s been a grueling tour so far, but Kye is so thankful for the opportunities he’s been given.

The team finished 3rd in this week’s points, and currently are 3rd in the overall point standings.

Stats from week 2:
Qualifying – 2nd, 9th, 1st, 13th, 7th, 2nd
Heat Race Finish – 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 3rd, 1st
Feature Finish – 2nd, 19th, 4th, 13th, 11th, 7th
