Labor Day Weekend Wrap-Up

The BAR31 Crew had another fun, fantastic weekend of racing in the USA.

Making the rounds with the MARS Series, Kye and team headed to Farmer City Raceway where he qualified 6th out of the 27 Late Models in attendance. Kye ran 2nd in his heat race which put him in the redraw for the feature. The drew a number 3, and at the end of the 40-lap race, took the checkers in 5th position.

Saturday was another visit to Fairbury Speedway. The team may have been feeling FALS-y but had a bit of a rough night. Qualifying 15th put him deep into the field but was able to race into the A-main from his heat race. He started 15th and took the checkers in 12th position according to My Race Pass. However, during the race, the 31AUS Rocket came into the pits for a tire change, which put Kye back to 22nd position. Driving back, passing 10 cars showed that the team was onto something.

The team left the MARS series on Sunday and headed east to Eldora Speedway for the Baltes Classic, a great event, with a bonus; being a week out from the World 100, a good time to practice for the big event. Owner, Paul Stubber had this to say about the night: “The track was greasy for the early qualifiers, and that was Kye. Where’s Joe (Chalmers) when you need him to pull a 99 (pill)! Kye moved up and stole 3 places in his heat to transfer very solid. Found some excellent traction on the tricky track. Heat results placed him out of 10 for the feature, and a calculated and speedy run saw him as one of the only movers, to fill from 10 to a top 5 finish. Any top 5 in the USA is gratifying, but more so at the Big E.”

Kye said, “A top 5 at the Big E is bloody cool!”

The team will spend a few days in St. Mary’s Ohio with Tyler Erb to get ready for the World 100.
